Switch off the lights on Saturday, March 29 from 20:30 to 21:30
The Principality of Monaco joins this year the operation « Earth Hour » extinguishing the lights of the Prince’s Palace Saturday, March 29 from 20:30 to 21:30. Tens of millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for 1 hour. Initiated by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), this Hour for the planet consists in turning off the lights and disconnecting the non-essential electrical devices during one hour to promote actions to reduce unnecessary electricity consumption. Ensure you switch off your monitor and shutdown your computer, printers and scanners, not only on Earth Hour but every day!
The first edition in 2008 reunited 35 countries; last year more than 7000 villages in 150 countries participated. The most celebrated landmarks were plunged into darkness during one hour: Eiffel Tower, The Opera in Sidney, The Tower of London, The San Francisco Bridge, The Christ statue in Rio de Janeiro, The Empire State building in New York City, and many more!
The Principality of Monaco will turn off the electricity in most of the public buildings. Citizens, companies, institutions, all are invited to participate in this worldwide initiative. The Monegasque slogan is “Use your power, act for the planet.”
With everybody’s support we can all make a difference!
