Congratulations to the Monaco Davis Cup team for winning over Morocco!

Davis Cup competition Group II Euro-African zone

It was a very hot and humid weekend during July 17 to 20, 2015, when the Monaco beat Morocco in the Davis Cup Group II Euro-African zone at the legendary Monte-Carlo Country Club, thus solidifying their position in the group.

The Moroccans battled hard but could not resist the fantastic tour de force from the Monegasque players nor the high humidity and descended into 4th division, that is to say Group III of their zone. Monegasques Benjamin Balleret, No. 1 from Monaco, and Romain Arneodo played their best matches ever in Singles and Doubles. Morocco’s No 1 player Quahab lost to Arneodo in four sets. The final score come 3-1 to Monaco in spite of Balleret having lost against Idmbarek in 4 sets in the first singles after putting a good fight. By mutual agreement the fifth match was not played.

The Monaco team will have to wait till the end of the year to know the identity of their next opponents.   In the meantime and probably after a short summer break the players will be back on the red clay courts practicing.
