Prince Albert gets hold of spray paint can to join artists
Over the weekend of July 15-16, 2017, the Principality, the international meeting point for art and culture, hosted the live open-air painting performance “Urban Painting Around the World” (UPAW), that brought under the same sky talented street and graffiti artists for an environmentally conscious art extravaganza. This unique event was founded and organized by WSM Events and Wizart Agency, with the artistic collaboration of Willem Speerstra, and the support of the Town Hall and the Tourist and Convention Bureau in Monaco, and the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.
Nine well known artists: Alex Kuznetsov/Russia; Blancbec/Belgium, Etnik/Italy, Jazi/Switzerland, John Crash Matos/USA; Mr Oneteas/Monaco; Mist/France; Sozione/Spain; and Stohead/Germany, participated in this charitable art event, all using eco-friendly paints. H.S.H. Prince Albert II took a can of spray paint and joined the street artists.
Funds raised will advance environmental projects
The monumental artworks were sold during an auction held by the prestigious auction house Artcurial, with part of the proceeds donated to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, that champions environmental issues worldwide.
On Thursday, October 19, 2017, UPAW delivered a check in the amount of Euro 20,180 to H.E. Bernard Fautrier, Executive Vice President of the foundation, and in the presence of Isabelle Bonnal, Director of National Education, Youth and Sports.
Next edition of UPAW
The 2nd edition of UPAW will return to the streets of Monaco in July 2018 under the theme “Une Planete a Croquer,” that in English would translate to something like “Drawing the Planet”.
