Designer Rahul Mishra puts the spotlight on Monaco during India Couture Week 2019

Mishra collection inspired by the Principality

Rahul Mishra unveiled his new collection dedicated and inspired by the Principality, during the 12th edition of the FDCI India Couture Week (ICW), July 22-28, 2019.

Rahul Mishra had been a guest of the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week in 2018, in close collaboration with the Institut Marangoni in Paris, when the Indian designer was bestowed with the prestigious MCFW© Sustainable and Ethical Brand Award. Successful stories like this one confirm that the MCFW© is a window to the world for talented new and established designers.

Mishra’s ICW Malhausi to Monaco collection, presented in collaboration with the Monaco Office in India, was staged recreating the streets of Monaco, surrounded by European facades and lush foliage that was reflected into the beautiful pieces for both men and women.

The ensemble was influenced by the designer’s trip to Monaco and his childhood memories of a village in Uttar Pradesh. The entire collection was set on ivory and pastel colors into gold, yellow, navy, and peaches, also showcasing quintessential red bridal lehenga with zardozi work.

Recognizing the very best in fashion

Rahul Mishra had been honored with the MCFW© Sustainable and Ethical Brand Fashion Award, presented by Pascal Granero, Director of the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation and Federica Nardoni Spinetta, during the Awards Ceremony of the 6th edition of the MCFW© at the Yacht Club of Monaco in 2018. Several other fashion personalities were recognized that evening.

The talented and eco-fashion Indian designer Rahul Mishra based in Delhi was duly recognized for his engagement and contribution to slow fashion with his ethical and sustainable fashion brand.

This environment and human conscious designer veils for the wellbeing of people in India, where he employs to this date more than 700 artisans, for whom his brand is their livelihood and gives them the possibility to be employed and remain in their villages. “I’m here for slow fashion. Mishra had won the International Woolmark Prize at the Milan Fashion Week in 2014, becoming the first Indian designer to be recognized with this important award, joining fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, and Yves Saint Laurent.  “When Rahul [Mishra] won the Woolmark Prize with such resounding success, I realized he had won hearts all over the world. Not just for his creative and technical skills, but for the conviction with which he believed that fashion can be a powerful catalyst for social change, especially in his own country,” said Bandana Tewari, fashion features editor of Vogue India. Rahul Mishra is also the brand ambassador of L’Institut Marangoni in Paris.

Many fashion personalities have received the MCFW©Fashion Awards from its creation in 2015 to this date.

The MCFW© is a window to the world attracting talented new designers from all over the world, renowned fashion icons, top models, influencers and fashion lovers. This prestigious fashion event is organized by the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode(CMM) since 2013, and its 8thedition is scheduled from May 14-18, 2020.
