Fognini, Wawrinka, Draper & Vacherot join top players list
Last straight line for the Monte-Carlo Country Club, chaired by Miss Melanie-Antoinette de Massy, on the occasion of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters (April 8-16, 2023), ready to welcome an exceptional line-up, with the participation of the world’s top 20 players in the ATP rankings.

David Massey, the new Tournament Director, today revealed the four wild cards for the final draw of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2023. The first two invitations are awarded to two former winners of the Monegasque Tournament, namely the Italian Fabio Fognini (N°91), who won in 2019, to the delight of the transalpine public and to Swiss Stan Wawrinka (N°87 ), who won in 2014. Long injured, the Swiss who is gradually regaining his level, compiled two quarter-finals in Rotterdam and Marseille in 2023. He had two great successes in Indian Wells against Miomir Kecmanovic and especially Holger Rune before losing to Jannik Sinner.


The third wild card goes to Jack Draper (N°43). The 21-year-old British hopeful, on the rise, had won the first set this season against Spaniard Rafael Nadal in the first round of the Australian Open. After dominating his compatriots Daniel Evans and Andy Murray recently in Indian Wells, he had to give up during the match against another Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the round of 16.
Finally, the fourth and last invitation is very logically given to the Monegasque n°1 in the ATP ranking, Valentin Vacherot. The one, who defends the colors red and white, notably won his two singles against the Dominican Republic in the Davis Cup in early February. He reached the quarter-finals of the ITF Vila Real de San Antonio tournament in Portugal last February and won the ATP Challenger Nonthaburi in Thailand in August 2022
Furthermore, 7 qualifying players will be added to the final draw who will start on Saturday April 8, from 11:00 a.m., for a total of 56 players.
The launch of the 116th edition of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters will take place in the heart of the Principality, on the occasion of the draw for the Singles final table, Friday April 7 at 17:00 in the presence of Stefanos Tsitsipas. It will be aired live on the Tournament’s social networks and on Monaco Info.Remember that the Greek won his second consecutive singles title last year, while the pair Rajeev Ram / Joe Salisbury (United States / England), won the tournament in doubles.

In addition, a mini-tennis exhibition, open to all, between two players among the best in the world, will take place at the Larvotto Beach, Place Anne-Marie Campora (Rose des Vents level), on Saturday, April 8, at high noon.
