Argentine film « Comienza el Baile » awarded top prizes!
The Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival, conceived and presided by Ezio Greggio, April 23-29, 2023, culminated in apotheosis.

The Jury’s verdict, composed by Giancarlo Giannini, President , Richard Anconina, Neri Marcorè, & Nathalie Poza awarded the Argentine film “Empieza el baile”, directed by Marina Seresesky, with three prizes for best stage design, best actor to Dario Grandinetti and the public prize, thus winner of the Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival.

Best Stage Design ex-aequo to Antonio Lukich for the film Luxembourg, Luxembourg.
Best Actress Award, Anna Castillo from Spain, for the film “Historias para no contar”, directed by Cesc Gay.
The Short Comedy Award went to « The 12 apostlesses », directed by Laura Ghaza.
Awards Gala and Laureates
A star-studded cast attended the Awards Gala at the Grimaldi Forum Monaco, Saturday, April 29, in the presence of HSH Prince Albert II, to celebrate the laureates of this grand cru edition. Presented by Ezio Greggio with the charming Elenoire Casalegno, the evening welcomed international celebrities loved by the public.

This year the Movie Legend Award was presented to Maître Costa-Gavras for his 54 years of a fantastic career (Oscar Award for the Best Screenplay for the film “Missing”, a victory at the Cannes Film Festival as the best director for ‘Section Spéciale’ and many other international awards), and for his tremendous contribution to international movie history.

Enthusiastic welcome for well known actress Mira Sorvino (recipient of an Oscar for ‘Mighty Aphrodite’ by Woody Allen), who received the MCFF Award for her overall career and the films that made her famous worldwide.

Anna Foglietta was also in the limelight (“Perfetti sconosciuti”, “The American” “Nessuno mi può giudicare”), actress and President of the non for profit association Every Child is my child. She received the prize ‘Attrice dell’Anno’ (Best actress of the year) foe the films that made her one of the most loved and appreciated by the Italian public.

Among the recognitions this year we include Federico Cesari (“Skam”, “Anni da cane”, “Buongiorno Mamma” “Tutto chiede salvezza”) who received the Next Generation Award, a prize dedicated to new faces of cinema and television.
Marco Giallini, one of the most loved Italian actors awarded three Nastri d’Argento (Rubans d’Argent) for “ACAB- All Cops are Bastards”, “Tutta colpa di Freud” et “Perfetti sconosciuti ») for first time at the Festival, received the MCFF Career Award.

Among the young international talents recognized, was Victor Belmondo, young French actor following the steps of his paternal grandfather, the unforgettable Jean Paul Belmondo, destined to a promising acting career.

Many celebrities were present at the Gala, such as, Barbara D’Urso, Paola Barolo et Mario De La Rosa (La Casa de Papel), who returned to the Festival after having integrated the Jury two years ago.
The musical guest of the evening was Claude from the Netherlands, performing his hit « Ladada » (Mes Derniers Mots/Time Records/Believe).

The Festival is organized in collaboration with EFG Bank Monaco, under the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert and the Italian Embassy. Radio Monte Carlo is the Official Radio since the first edition.
